Bringing Up Grades (BUG) Honor Roll
Becoming young leaders through academic achievement.
The Bring Up Grades (BUG) Honor Roll is a program designed to provide recognition to students who work hard to reach their full potential and maintain grades while raising at least one of them from one grading period to the next. The Kiwanis Club of Spring City is sponsoring this program for the 1st-5th grades at Spring City Elementary. The club, with the help of community sponsors, provide coupons, certificates, & gifts to students on the BUG Honor Roll.
Your child's teacher will establish a base line grade for each student in each subject based on grades for the first grading period. Students are honored each grading period thereafter if they maintain their grades and raise at least one grade. The students number grades are used to determine who qualifies for an award. A "C" doesn't have to become a "B", but the number grade needs to increase in at least one subject while the number grades in the other subjects stay the same. At the awards ceremony, the BUG Honor Roll students will be announced and come down to receive their certificate and gift bag. One item in that gift bag is a bumper sticker to put on your car to tell the community that your child is on the BUG honor roll. We look forward to seeing those stickers around town!
At the end of the year, a SUPER BUG from each homeroom or class is honored as part of this program. A SUPER BUG is a student who served as a mentor assisting others in achieving their goals of bringing up one grade.
Please encourage your child to study and work to their potential so that they can be on the BUG Honor Roll.
Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to serving the children of the world. The local club is very active in the community.
